Our Story

In remembrance of Kenai, Qavvik, Princess, Ulu, Bibingka, Titan, Gotham & Panik

In Bully We Trust - Bully friendly apparel breaking stereotypes through fashion. "It is our mission to design fashion forward lifestyle apparel, with a focus on trends, quality, fit and feel, which caters to bully breed owners and advocates who wish to make a bold statement to end breed discrimination through positive messages."

It all began in 2003 when print shop owner and graphic designer, Dwight, adopted his first bully, Kenai, to keep him company on his rural property in Oregon's Willamette Valley. After adding a second pup, Qavvik, one became another and another and Dwight eventually had a pack of 5. Meanwhile, Amy, a business consultant, in Southern California, already had her pup, Princess, and quickly grew to add 2 other bullies to her family.

During this time, we had met online (in a pit bull forum, nonetheless!) and our passion for bully breeds, and each other, was undeniable. Within weeks, Amy packed up her three pups and relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where we combined packs, businesses and households.

Fast forward a few months, and we had not only rebranded Dwight's print and design business, but had also launched a successful online business, which offered durable pet supplies and high quality supplements, catering to active pups and power chewers. As we searched for products to add to our site, we looked everywhere but could not find any fashionable, quality apparel, that positively represented bully breeds and felt good to wear. Hovland had been developing bully breed related apparel designs for several years and it was only natural that we take the initiative and begin offering those to the public.

It was then that Original Bully was born. With Dwight's background in apparel design, and Amy's experience in web development, we quickly created a website and printed just a few shirt designs. Moments after launching our site, we had our first online order, and we couldn't believe it, it was to Italy! Within months, we released our Pack of Haters hoodie and our zipper dog hoodies, and our brand's popularity sure grew! By the end of our first year, customer photos had gone viral, loyal fans got tattoos of our logo and we even had customer photos of pets and people from all 7 continents!

Since our beginnings, we have since grown to a social media following of over 200k followers, expanded our offerings to include apparel for the whole family along with a line of headwear and special edition styles, raised thousands of dollars for charity and even collaborated to brew our own beer, oh, and we got married!

While we've grown a lot in the past few years, we're still a small, family owned and operated business. We're proud to be able to share our love of bully breeds with the world, and do our part to end breed specific legislation and negative stereotypes; empowering advocates through apparel with a positive message. We hope you love our products as much as we do, and are very grateful for your support!

With love from our pack to yours,

The Original Bully Family - Dwight, Amy, Kiska & Attu
